Mom's Shirt

This shirt was my mom's when she was pregnant with me in 1982. I think it's really cute how she saved it all this time.

Exactly One Month Until My Due Date

Today is exactly one month until my due date. I had an appointment today and the baby is a-okay and still head-down. I got the group-B strep test today. All pregnant women toward the end of the pregnancy are tested for it. It's a harmless bacteria in adults but could be harmful to the baby if it gets the bacteria on the way out. I'll get the results next week during my next appointment. My next appointment is January 3rd. That's one week from today. My appointments from now on will be every week.

34 Weeks

I am 34 weeks pregnant. Still feeling great. Starting to get more tired though toward the end of the day. Not as tired as I was the first trimester but close to it. I can't believe there is only 6 weeks left! Time has been flying by.

Baby Shower and Appointment

This past Saturday (12/8) was my shower. I had so much fun and it was so great seeing everyone. People were so gracious with their gifts and we have so much cute baby stuff now. I am so excited! I have been working on the nursery little by little so that it should be done by the time she gets here.
Today was my second midwife appointment. All is well. I heard her heartbeat and my belly was measured. My next apointment is in 2 weeks. After that, they will be every week until she is born.
Right now she has the hiccups, which are cute for the first minute or so, but then just get a little annoying. They feel like little rhythmic twitches or beats and they are a sign that she is practice breathing to get ready for the outside world.

First Midwife Appointment

I had a doctor's appointment yesterday and the midwife told us that as of now the baby is in the head-down position. She also said that the baby could always turn head up over the next few weeks and have to return to the head down position for birth. She measured my belly and it is 32 cm. Which is good because I am in my 32nd week, and the centimeters correspond to the weeks. We listened to the heartbeat and she was kicking the doppler the whole time. The midwife was really getting a kick out of that. She was laughing and saying how no matter where she put the wand part of the doppler, the baby tried to kick it away. My next appointment is in 2 weeks.

31 Weeks Pregnant

Here I am at 31 weeks pregnant. I still feel great. I just look huge, I don't feel like I'm carrying around all this extra weight....yet! We started childbirth classes last week. They are every Monday for 4 weeks. We are learning all the labor terminology, and breathing and relaxing techniques.

Karate Kid

Over this past week or so, her kicks have become so powerful I think I must have the next karate kid in here! Many of the kicks aren't really even kicks anymore, they're more like stretches. I was laying in bed, trying to fall asleep when I suddenly felt this foot popping out on my side. Well, with a gentle touch I pushed back! It was so strange for a few seconds we were foot to fingers. I could actually feel her foot through my skin! In addition to all the kicks and stretches, are the tumbles and rolls. Ryan was watching her roll over and he looked at me with wide eyes and said, "I can't believe how strange it is to actually see her rolling over inside you and to know that it's our baby inside doing that." 'that' meaning to make my stomach morph as if a little alien is about to pop out like in that movie.
